Biography
Dr. Asish K. Dutta is the Chair and Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at 海角社区, School of Pharmacy. He is also the Director of the Masters in Pharmaceutical Sciences program. He has over 23 years of academic experience teaching Pharmaceutics, Pharmacokinetics and Biopharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Calculations and various didactic and research Electives. He is the Past-Chair of Pharmaceutics section of American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) and currently actively participates at various committees and sub-committees at AACP. He is the Past-Chair of the Curriculum and Assessment Committees, member of Admissions and Student promotions committees for the School of Pharmacy, and Past-Chair of the Committee of Faculty Research and Development at 海角社区. He has over 20 years of experience at various stages of product and process development of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical products such as powders, immediate-release and controlled-release tablets and capsules, solutions, suspensions, ointments and creams, ophthalmic products, etc. Dr. Dutta has worked on several pharmaceutical products that are currently on the market. He also has an extensive experience in analytical method development and validation as well as preformulation analysis of active pharmaceutical ingredients and nutraceutical products. Dr. Dutta has extensively published his research in peer-reviewed journals, presented at national conferences and is a recipient of numerous intramural grants. He serves as a Reviewer for a number of journals and actively participates in Leadership roles at American Associations for Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), such as the Chair of Abstract Screening Committee of FDD (Formulation and Drug Delivery) and the Chair of the Ambassador Program of MSE (Manufacturing Science and Engineering) sections. He has also served as the Student and Post-doc Outreach and Development (SPOD) Committee Representative of MSE, and is the past Co-Chair of Greater Maryland Discussion Group (GMDG-AAPS). Dr. Dutta holds a B.S. in Pharmaceutical Technology from Jadavpur University, and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from University of Mississippi.
