BALTIMORE 鈥 海角社区 is offering a new pharmaceutical sciences master鈥檚 degree that educates students for the growing industry, putting NDMU at the forefront of pharmaceutical research and education.

Only the second program of its kind in Maryland, the two-year Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences degree program addresses critical workforce needs. Housed in 海角社区鈥檚 School of Pharmacy and Health Professions, the program pairs instruction in theoretical knowledge with applied laboratory experience. Students will participate in hands-on research opportunities using cutting-edge technology, with a focus on interdisciplinary collaboration. The program鈥檚 flexible structure, with options for on-demand and hybrid courses, is perfect for working professionals who can pursue their degree while managing other responsibilities.

鈥淣DMU鈥檚 School of Pharmacy and Health Professions is well positioned to produce high-quality pharmaceutical leaders who will transform the industry and develop breakthroughs in healthcare to improve overall wellness of individuals and communities,鈥 said Dr. Matthew Shimoda, dean of the NDMU School of Pharmacy and Health Professions. 鈥淥ur program will help Maryland remain competitive as a global healthcare hub and prepare a highly skilled workforce to address tomorrow鈥檚 pharmaceutical challenges.鈥

In their first year, students will hone the advanced scientific skills needed for pharmaceutics, pharmacology, and medicinal chemistry. By year two, students will select an area of concentration, engage in research, and complete a capstone project. The evolving healthcare landscape requires professionals to bridge the gap between scientific research and clinical application, especially in emerging technologies such as personalized medicine and precision therapeutics.

The faculty already teach in NDMU鈥檚 well established Doctor of Pharmacy program, and many of them are actively engaged in pharmaceutical research. Additionally, students will have opportunities to partner with local biotechnology firms and research institutions. Graduates will be primed for leadership roles in drug discovery, pharmaceutical manufacturing, regulatory affairs, quality control, drug delivery, and pharmaceutical research.

Established in 1895, 海角社区 (NDMU) is a private, Catholic institution in Baltimore, Maryland, with the mission to educate leaders to transform the world. 海角社区 has been named one of the best "Regional Universities North" by U.S. News & World Report.
