BALTIMORE, Md. – A 130-year legacy was honored at �������� with a vibrant Alumni Awards Dinner on Saturday, October 4, 2025 — and it was a night to remember. Held in the MBK Gym, the evening brought together alumni, faculty, staff, and friends to celebrate, connect, and cherish all the beautiful memories.

The party started with a friendly hello from Carroll D. Galvin, Ph.D., ’23, followed by a blessing from Patricia McLaughlin, SSND, ’66. President Marylou Yam, Ph.D., R.N., took the stage to voice the University’s timeless purpose, and Sheri J. Booker ’04 delivered an original poem reflecting on NDMU's history that set the tone for a beautiful evening. Guests enjoyed dinner, Alumni Awards presentations, and a commemorative video — all before putting on their dancing shoes.

Here are the 2025 Alumni Award winners, along with the Athletics Hall of Fame inductee:

Athletics Hall of Fame Inductee: Alla Stepanov ’18

A superstar on both the soccer and tennis teams, Alla Stepanov’s athletic prowess and competitive spirit earned her a place in the NDMU Athletics Hall of Fame. Today, she is a nationally recognized soccer official and award-winning coach, lighting the way for the next generation of young athletes and students alike.

Outstanding Recent Graduate: Victoria E. Meadows ’15

Victoria Meadows is at the forefront in enterprise risk management at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Earning multiple degrees and a passion for mentorship, she is shaping policy, creating spaces for belonging, and cherishing the lifelong bond she shares with NDMU.

Alumnae and Alumni Engagement Award: Nicholé C. Gatewood, Esq. ’01

Nicholé “Nikki” Gatewood is a legal heavyweight and civic leader whose allegiance to NDMU is decade-spanning. As the first woman of color to lead the Alumni Council, she continues to champion students and alumni with mentorship, advocacy, and deeply human approach to leadership.

Service to Society Award: Sister Charmaine Krohe, SSND, ’75

Sister Charmaine’s life of service has blessed communities across Baltimore. From establishing sanctuaries of outreach to guiding luminous paths of learning, her devotion embodies the sacred heartbeat of �������� and manifests the divine whisper of compassion incarnate.

Distinguished Alumna Award: Dr. Janine Good ’81

Dr. Janine Good has spent her career proving that being “Good” is very good. With a heart for healing and a passion for teaching, she’s been nationally recognized as a headache specialist and hospital leader — advancing public health, mentoring future physicians, and reminding us all that the best medicine is delivered with empathy, sensitivity, and a whole lot of Good.

As the evening unfolded in a ballroom that felt more like Grandma’s living room — familiar, cozy, and full of love, all the shared memories and heartfelt embraces — one truth gently settled over the room: NDMU is family. It is not just a place we once belonged to, but a home we return to in every hug, every story, every moment of connection. The soul of �������� does not live in walls or titles — it lives in us, carried forward with tenderness, pride, and the kind of closeness that only family can give.
