BALTIMORE, Md. – The Daily Record has selected º£½ÇÉçÇø President Marylou Yam as a .

Dr. Yam has served as NDMU’s 14th president since 2014, leading the 130-year-old university with visionary and strategic leadership. She has driven groundbreaking academic program growth, introducing Maryland’s first bachelor’s and master’s programs in art therapy, the state’s first Doctorate in Occupational Therapy at a private institution, and the first Master of Physician Assistant Studies program at a private institution.

She also led the launch of NDMU’s new School of Integrative Health, developed after a recent merger of the former Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH) into NDMU. That move makes NDMU the nation’s first comprehensive university with a school solely dedicated to integrative health, adding a full array of more than 20 primarily online graduate-level integrative health and wellness degrees and certificates to NDMU’s already robust offerings of conventional healthcare programs.

Under Dr. Yam’s leadership, the University’s total enrollment at NDMU has increased by 38 percent from fall 2022 to fall 2025, with record traditional undergraduate enrollment each of the past three years. In fall 2023, NDMU transitioned to a gender inclusive campus and welcomed male students in its traditional undergraduate programs for the first time, along with the merger of the former MUIH as a new School of Integrative Health, contributed to the overall total enrollment increase.

During her tenure, NDMU’s endowment increased by 40 percent, reaching its highest level in history. Additionally, the University successfully completed its largest fundraising campaign to date, raising more than $52.6 million to support students and academic excellence and exceeding its historic goal months ahead of schedule. In addition, Dr. Yam forged a groundbreaking partnership with Brightview Senior Living to build a senior housing community at NDMU – a first for a Maryland college campus.

Dr. Yam has been twice named to The Daily Record’s Most Admired CEOs list (2021 and 2024), and she is a member of the Circle of Excellence as a three-time recipient of the publication’s Maryland’s Top 100 Women award (2017, 2020, and 2024). Dr. Yam was appointed by Governor Hogan to the Maryland Commission of Women and served from 2015-2021.
