Dr. Sean Coyne is presenting at the Animal Behavior Society Annual Meeting from August 3-6. He will be presenting the work Sex and Age Differences in Activity Budgets in a Population of Captive African Penguins (Spheniscus demersus), which co-authored with Trystin Figel and Kirsten Marten  from the University of St. Joseph, Connecticut.

Attention aspiring teachers and educational leaders: this August 9-13, 2021 Education PowerED will host our inaugural BLACK2School Week. During the week, we will host a series of workshops and mixers to help equip educators for the start of the 2021-22 School Year! Topics will include Social-Emotional Learning, Restorative Justice, White Dominant Culture, Culturally Responsive Teaching, and MORE! Check out to register. Dr. Céleste Frazier Barthel attended the SciPEP Conference - Communicating the Future, Engaging the Public in Basic Science. During the conference she was one of three panelists for a parallel discussion on how the broader public views science and presented a poster on her research entitled, "How scientists' understanding of how their audiences learn influences their outreach strategies."

Dean for the School of Nursing, Kathy Wisser, and ABSN student, Paige Clark, about how NDMU is filling the dire need for nurses in Baltimore and throughout the state with the Accelerated Second-Degree BSN (ABSN) program.

Three School of Nursing graduates recently received accolades for their excellence at their hospitals this past year. From the first ABSN cohort, Jennifer Dickensheets ’20, was named Rookie of the Year and a nominee for Nurse of the Year at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital. Mary Marquez ’20 who graduated from the Undergraduate Studies during the pandemic was named Nurse Residency–Nurse of the Year at MedStar Franklin Square Medical. Cristina Aquia Hass ’15 from the first undergraduate traditional BSN graduating class was recognized in Baltimore Magazine as the Excellence in Nursing Winner. She works in Labor and Delivery at St. Joe’s Medical Center.

• Dr. Nicole Culhane, Assistant Dean for Experiential Education & Professor, and Ms. Sherry Moore, Assistant Director for Experiential Education & Instructor, as with all experiential education faculty at all schools of pharmacy, were recognized with the Award for Excellence in Experiential Education for their work during this pandemic year. The award was given by the Experiential Education Section of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.
• Dr. James Culhane, Assistant Dean for Academic Success & Professor, was named the recipient of this year’s NDMU Student Government Faculty/Staff Supporter of the Year.
• Dr. Asish Dutta, Chair & Associate Professor, Pharmaceutical Sciences, completed his term as Chair of the Pharmaceutics Section of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.  He will serve as Immediate Past Chair in 2021-2022.
• Dr. Anne Lin, Dean & Professor, completed her term as President of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. She delivered her Presidential Remarks and outlined the results of work this past year during the Opening General Session of the Annual Meeting in July. She will serve as Immediate Past President and as a member of the Board of Directions in 2021-2022.
• Dr. Anne Lin was selected as a Circle of Excellence Recipient for the Daily Record Top 100 Women.
• Dr. Ashley Moody, Assistant Professor, Clinical & Administrative Sciences, was named School of Pharmacy Mentor of the Year (2020-2021).

Grants
